Once all the weight is off, GLP-1 prescriptions are usually discontinued by physicians. For many, this new phase often triggers some anxiety about regaining weight. According to FMCG Gurus’ Consumer Trends Report, of 17% global consumers who are currently using GLP-1s, 65% are concerned about regaining weight.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists are undeniably the pharmaceutical breakthrough so far of the 21st century. Multiple clinical trials have shown benefit for glucose regulation by reducing A1C, weight loss, and more recently, cardiovascular disease and even potentially reducing risk of breast cancer. They work by generally mimicking the naturally occurring GLP-1 hormone by binding to its receptor.

In their 2025 review, researchers noted that between 2020 and 2024, there was a dramatic 700% increase in GLP-1 prescriptions, largely for weight loss. They noted too that semaglutides provided an overall weight loss of 15% while tirzepatides showed 22.5% and more.

A meta-analysis of 6 randomized controlled trials found that after stopping the GLP-1 medication, participants had a rapid initial weight gain which subsided; however, they regained up to 60% of the weight loss after 52 weeks after the final dose. Beyond one year, weight gain plateaued at 75.3%, leaving these individuals with 25% of their initial weight loss sustained.
Meanwhile, a newer study from the Cleveland Clinic has found more optimistic outlooks. Researchers combed through data of approximately 7,938 patients who stopped GLP-1s, finding that they regained only 1% of the weight in the following year after the final dose. This was attributed largely to after-care that included either nutrition coaching/healthy diet and exercise (14%), or another, different prescription (27%). Meanwhile, 20% restarted the same drug within one year of last dose (occurring between 3 and 12 months after initial dose).
Many individuals stop the therapy due to financial restrictions. They wonder how they can maintain results they worked hard to achieve. As of July 2026, GLP-1s cost on average between $936 and $1,023 each month. Further, many employer health plans do not cover or restrict coverage for these medications prescribed for weight loss as opposed to blood sugar management.
This data illustrates opportunities for post-GLP-1 weight management products. According to FMCG Gurus’ Consumer Trends report, 69% of respondents worldwide are interested in buying a food or beverage (or supplement) that naturally stimulates their GLP-1 hormones.

As mentioned, many people who stop GLP-1s often feel heightened stress and anxiety about weight regain; this is caused by increased feelings of hunger and delayed satiety. CitruSlim® — a blend of Citrus bergamia Risso (bergamot) extract with Adapticort®/LJ100® Eurycoma longfolia — is shown to balance appetite hormones ghrelin (the “I’m hungry feed me now” hormone) and leptin (“Nah, not that hungry” hormone). CitruSlim® additionally supports healthy weight management in two other ways: it activates AMP kinase, which regulates cellular metabolism, and reduces cortisol, which decreases stress response.
Bergamot Polyphenolic Fraction (BPF®), the key bergamot component in CitruSlim®, is rich in the flavanones brutieridin, melitidin, naringin, neoeriocitrin, and neohesperidin. Together, these five compounds account for more than 95% of the flavanone profile of BPF® and have been shown to support healthy glucose and lipid metabolism. Emerging evidence also suggests they may influence endogenous GLP-1 pathways through multiple mechanisms.

CitruSlim® is researched and shown to provide metabolic and weight management benefits in humans. A 112-day clinical study investigated CitruSlim’s efficacy on healthy body weight management in 81 obese individuals. The study population was randomized into three groups — CitruSlim-high dose (HD), CitruSlim-low dose (LD), and placebo. Results showed significant improvements in ghrelin/leptin balance, cortisol level reduction and AMPK level increase in both CitruSlim® groups compared to placebo. The authors concluded that “results of the present study clearly indicate that CitruSlim® (LD and HD) is well-tolerated and effective in promoting weight loss in obese individuals.”
In an unpublished study, 50 moderately overweight participants underwent a 6-week program of stress management, nutrition intervention, and exercise, along with either CitruSlim® or placebo. They were assessed for weight loss, metabolic parameters and mood state.
Results showed that the overall lifestyle program led to significant changes in body weight (average 2.7kg) and body fat (average 2.4kg), or 87% of total weight loss from fat loss in the CitruSlim® group, while placebo participants had nominal body weight loss (0.78kg) and body fat loss (0.55kg). Importantly, these results show that, along with healthy diet and moderate exercise, CitruSlim® provides superior results than diet and exercise alone.
There are 4 attractive attributes (claims) for CitruSlim® as supported by human studies:
- Supports healthy metabolic function*
- Supports healthy weight loss and management*
- Promotes early satiety*
- Supports healthy fasting glucose and triglycerides*
